Coseley was originally the village in the ancient manor of Sedgley. Around 1897, it broke away from a parish of Sedgley & became Coseley Urban District. At this stage virtually all of the Coseley region was occupied by industrial & agrarian land.
Coseley Urban District Council built many g council houses and flats over a Xl-season cycle from either the mid 1920s which changed the face of the metropolitan area. 1966 saw the Urban District Council be a portion of Dudley County Borough, and is okay, a portion of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley. Even so, a Brierley (pron. "Brearley" does'nt to become confused using Brierley Hill), Bradley and Ettingshall areas were incorporated into Wolverhampton County Borough instead, while the little metropolitan area bordering Wednesbury lies in the present-day Sandwell Metropolitan Borough.
Coseley is section of the Bilston WV14 postal district.
